need help starting up

I’m having problems with learning how to use Log4net.  I am trying to build a class that I can tack on to multiple codes so that I can monitor there usage.  I am at the point that I can start it up, but it doesn’t record any other information.  When I get out of my program and go back in, the log doesn’t append, it just restarts.   Any help will be highly appreciated.   A tutorial, a sample code, anything.   Thank you in advance.   vr, Yvette
