-----------------------------------------------------------------

The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University
invites applications for a three-year Assistant Teaching Professor or
Associate Teaching Professor position, to begin July 31, 2022. The
position, which will be based at our branch campus in Doha, Qatar (CMUQ),
primarily involves teaching introductory undergraduate mathematics courses
to students pursuing degrees in Biological Sciences, Business
Administration, Computer Science and Information Systems.

The standard teaching load for teaching-track faculty in Mathematical
Sciences at CMUQ is two courses per semester. The two course per semester
load is standard at CMUQ because we do not offer Teaching Assistant support
for any of the math and/or science courses offered here.

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar operates in concert with several other
American and European branch campuses under the umbrella of the Qatar
Foundation’s Education City. The branch campus closely follows the
admissions requirements and English language curriculum of the home campus,
which awards all degrees. The several thousand students in Education City
students are a broad mix of nationalities, but primarily from the Middle
East, North Africa, and South Asia. CMUQ’s faculty is a mix of
professionals hired specifically to the campus and seconded faculty from
the main campus. CMUQ’s primary focus is undergraduate education in
Business Administration, Biological Sciences, Computer Science and
Information Systems.

Carnegie Mellon offers teaching track appointments with multi-year
contracts and promotion opportunities. While applications will be accepted
at the assistant and associate teaching levels, associate teaching level
applicants should have made a significant and positive impact on curriculum
and student development, and have a distinguished teaching record.

The position offers competitive salaries, travel and housing allowances and
other benefit packages, which may include attractive professional
development support. A reasonable teaching load allows time for quality
teaching, scholarly work and close involvement with students, faculty and
the local educational community.

*Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion *

Carnegie Mellon University is an equal opportunity employer and is
committed to increasing the diversity of its community on a range of
intellectual, cultural and social dimensions. Carnegie Mellon welcomes
faculty applicants who will contribute to this diversity through their
research, teaching, and service, including women, members of minority
groups, protected veterans, individuals with disabilities, and others who
would contribute in different ways.

*Qualifications *

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely
related discipline and demonstrate a potential for excellence in classroom
teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with sustained
demonstrated excellence in teaching who have the potential to contribute to
educational initiatives in the mathematical sciences group and across the
University.
