If you're using WiFi, and insist that you don't have a data plan, then
the APN setting is kinda irrelevant.
The first thing I'd do, is use the BlackBerry event logger to see what's
actually happening when LogicMail tries to connect to your mail server.
You get to the event logger by pressing "Alt-lglg" (hold down alt, then
press those 4 keys in sequence). The event logger has an options screen
(Menu->Options), where you can filter its output. I'd set it to "Debug
Info", then hide everything except "LogicMail", "Java Exception",
"net.rim.networkapi", and "net.rim.tcp". (you could leave it all
enabled, but then the output will be quite chatty)
Once the event logger is set, close that screen and return to
LogicMail. Make LogicMail try to connect to your mail server (e.g. do a
"Refresh folders"). Then close/hide LogicMail and return to the event
logger. You should be able to see exactly what's being attempted and
failing.

Anyone?
I'd particularly like to hear any feedback about the APN setting.
Thanks,

Also, "the web browser works" is rarely a valid test. So many
firewalls may let web traffic through while blocking other
things. Also, the web browser is likely to have its own
special bag of tricks for getting data, many of which may not
be usable by apps like LogicMail.
Sure but it does confirm, at least in some basic way that I have
network connectivity. At the very least it confirms the wifi I'm
connected to functions.
So here's what I would do:
1) Make sure your phone has WiFi connectivity, and that you're
not blocking outgoing connections to e-mail server ports
I'm a network admin so I know what's open and what's not.
2) On the LogicMail configuration screen, scroll down to the
Networking section, and change the connection method from
"Auto" to "WiFi only".
Tried both settings already.
Thanks for the suggestions but this really has nothing to do with
the network I'm connected to. I know that for certain because
i)All the networks I'm referring to were built by me from the
ground up and ii)LM worked on all of the networks at one point but
not anymore. In fact, I've since returned to the same ones and it
still doesn't work.
Thought...
I came across a post at one point(can't find it at the moment)
that suggested I add either blackberry.net <http://blackberry.net>
or internet.com <http://internet.com> to my APN settings. The
original setting was blank. The same post suggested that if LM
didn't work after entering the either APN settings to call your
provider and ask them what the "Access Point Name" is for your
phone...Is this setting even relevant?
Thanks,
Phil

Hi Guys.
I setup LogicMail for the first time a few days ago. Right of
the bat LM said it failed to connect at the end of the wizard
and I ended up with a red x on the IMAP folder.
After much thought, I realized I had the beta installed so I
returned to the ota site and installed stable. That fixed
things -so I thought. That same day I skipped through many
wifi networks sending/receiving mail...It was, in one word,
awesome.
Later that day I got home and I was right back where I
started with a red x on my root IMAP folder. So in order, I
rebooted the phone, deleted my account / rebooted / recreated
my account, deleted my account / reinstalled LM / rebooted
the phone / recreated my account...Still the red x persisted.
I know my Gmail settings well -I'm on Google Apps w/my
domain. Everytime I got the red x I tested connectivity by
successfully bringing up more than one web page. I also did
the "clear cache" button a few times and that didn't help either.
I don't have a data plan and likely never will.
Any suggestions?
