Kaltura now only offers iFrame embed code, so I think I can still embed if I can figure out the magic touch to make the code work. As is, it gives me a black placeholder.

That would make you save from any future "upgrades." Using the HTML5 <video>-element, you could even provide multiple versions of your videos in LON-CAPA.
