With apologies to the Mod if a bit off topic....
For those of you not aware, Ensignbus will be holding a 'Summer Vintage Bus
Running Day' around the Thurrock (Essex) area
on Saturday, 28th August 2010.
Various types of vintage bus will operate.
Around 50% will be ex-London vehicles such as RT's, all RM types, RLH & DMS.
There may be one or two ex-London vehicles from the 1980's too. The rest will
be
made up of more 'provincial' vintage vehicles including various Leyland types
such as PD2, PD3, PS1 and there will be a
Bristol K & RE.
There will be two routes operating, these will be:
X55 Upminster Station - Aveley - LAKESIDE (good tube and mainline train
connections at Upminster [which is in the TfL/ Travelcard area] from London).
This route will
use vintage single decks, every 30 minutes.
X81 Bluewater (Kent) -
LAKESIDE - Brentwood - Shenfield Station (good mainline train connection at
Shenfield from London or East
Anglia). This route will use vintage double
decks, every 30 minutes.
We expect a number of open tops to be in service
on both the X55 & X81 (weather permitting), the X81 inparticular will be
quite special over the Dartford Bridge.
There will be 'guest
vehicles' including an Arriva London heritage vehicle on the X81 and we will be
'borrowing' a couple of buses from Roger Wright (The London Bus Company). Also,
we expect two very special 'surprise vehicles' to appear out there on the day
too!
**If you're free on the 28th August, then please come down and give
us some support! With Lakeside & Bluewater Shopping Centres on the routes
you could also take some time out to do some shopping or bring the whole family
with you and they can spend all your money whilst you have fun on the
buses!!**
Full timetable, route & fare details will be available on
the www.ensignbus.com website in the next couple of weeks.
Cheers
Ross
