I asked about this bus a year ago, those photos on Danny Chabaud's site look very similar to the ones I was sent by Nick Abbot. The bus was supposed to be very near our old base of La Roche sur Yon, but it turned out to be miles further north at a place called Verdille. It's existence was "notified" to Cobham by a Mark Ferris, an English guy who lives nearby the bus and they told me. Mr Ferris found out for me that the owner was a M. René and I contacted him last September. We were told the engine was running when last moved and everything else "worked" but its obviously unfit to drive except out of the field its in!!
Before we contacted the owner, we did some investigation with Alan Bond as Mr Ferris told me the bus had a different plate on the rear to the front. Front was KGU 271 but the rear showed NXP 753. We discovered it has Weymann body 5035 originally on an AEC chassis as RT 2156 new in 1949 to Uxbridge garage. During an overhaul it received another AEC chassis and was RT 4399 in the early 60's before the body was transferred on overhaul to RTL 313 in August 1964. When I contacted the owner he would not state a price insisting over and over again he must get the "correct" price, because it was in a film he obviously thought it was worth a lot of money, I explained that it needed a crane and a low loader to move it anywhere and to Clermont-Ferrand would cost 2000?, but he still would not state a price, we really did not want it as the spares we would get are limited and not worth paying 2000? + for, although we have a spare roof!. If this bus is scrapped, it really cannot be returned to the UK in that state, it will be the fault of M René for leaving it where it is for so long and demanding silly money for a pile of scrap wood and metal.
