I attended (at personal expense) from Munich and can vouch for the following:

That iii got more or less as much publicity as any other sponsor at the
event.

Perhaps O'reilly should moan that 1.3 hours per day was not spent discussing
their books?

Perhaps iii should have given a free years subscription to any perl
programmers wanting to invest on-line? On this point I should say the idea of
an monthly/annual fee puts me off, IMHO a per-action charge should be enough,
otherwise I'd be a customer :-)

Any sponsor worth their salt would appreciate a sales pitch direct to a group
of geeks would put them soundly off. On the basis that perhaps 'any publicity
is good publicity', then this message thread is achieving something similar
:-)

The mousemat was a very good idea, 'quiet - low key - useful', and will have
much more effect than a 5 minute 'buy me' shout at a bunch of uninterested
programmers, who were there to discuss perl, not investment funds.

I am currently using the quite novel mousemat (thank you), exposing iii to
another world of possibilities in Munich (mainland Europe for those that don't
know ;-) The mat raises eyebrows, that's the intention, I presume? and it
doesn't fall off the table. Though if Leon lost his job over this, I might
have to push it off to maintain solidarity - sniff! :-(

Never mind Leon, loadsajobs out there.

Travel the world, meet interesting people, program something, fall out, call
in the army - great life :-)

Please pass this on to all at B<iii> for their comment, as I didn't see their
address anywhere in the mailing list thread.

Ciao
