In a Frazzle? Don't Let Your Love Life Fizzle All work and no play makes for a very
dull love life. If you're like most working women you know how easy it is to let your
love life lose out to the demands and stress of your job. But a life of hustle and
bustle doesn't have to exclude time for hanky panky. In fact, recent research shows
that busy people actually get busy more often. People who work more than 60 hours per
week tend to get romantic 10% more than people working a standard 40-hour week. If
they can find time so can you! Keeping your relationship sizzling doesn't take a lot
of work — just a little planning, a bit of creativity and the ability to turn even the
simplest things into romantic gestures. Here are some ways to make time in your busy
schedule for romance:
Reserve one night a week for "us" time. Mark it in your organizer or on your
calendar. No matter how jam-packed your schedule is, set aside one evening every week
to do something together. Whether it's a night on the town or an evening watching a
video, making a "reservation" ensures that everything else takes a back seat to your
together time.
Just call to say I Love You. Whether it's a phone call to start his day, an
e-mail to greet him in the morning, or sweet notes tucked into his briefcase, remind
him that no matter how busy you are, you're still thinking about him.
Take a walk together. Although it's tempting to go home and flake out on the
couch, a leisurely stroll may be a better way to unwind at the end of the day. Hold
hands like you did when you first started dating. It doesn't have to be a long hike,
just enough time to enjoy each other's company and catch up on the details of each
other's day. And remember, it's okay if the walk ends up with one or both of you
having to spend the rest of the night working.
Have a favorite table for two. Too tired to cook? Too tired to even think of a
place to go to eat? Finding a restaurant you both love that's easy for to get to after
work takes the hassle out of making plans. Rendezvous there often and take refuge from
the day with good food, good service and even better company.
Go to bed early. Doesn't sound romantic? We're not suggesting going to sleep
early. Have a light dinner, a long, hot bath and crawl into bed before the sun even
goes down. We can't think of a better way to end a day together!
Play hooky — together. Definitely a rare pleasue, there's something sexy about
being naughty — especially when you don't get caught. Sleep in late, enjoy breakfast
in bed, unplug the phone, spend the afternoon in the bath, play scrabble, order in
lunch... Whatever you decide to do, or not do, wasting the day away is a lot more fun
when it's with someone you love.
