LPI Offers Free Exams at Linux World - San Francisco in August 2002.
LPI will offer the following exams at Linux World in San Francisco;
Exam LPI-101 and Exam LPI-201.
If you are interested in taking either of these exams - please come to:
Room 120 of the Moscone Center at
10 AM or 2PM on August 12th, 13th or 14th.
If you take and pass exam 101 - you can then take exam 102 at a Vue
testing site to complete the certification and receive a certificate
from LPI.
If you wish to take the exam 201 - you must already have completed the
Level 1 and then you may take 201 at Linux World, and complete the
L2 exam 202 at a Vue or Prometric testing site.
You should come prepared with an LPI registration number which you can
get from our new members log-in site;

LPI has now published the Level 2 exams with Prometric
in both English and Japanese.

LPI is a training neutral organization dedicated to the idea that
candidates should have the widest possible choice in training,
so please ensure you look into all types of training before you make
your decision. There are classes, web-based training ideas, course-
ware, books.

7; LPI-Japan
LPI-Japan is a very energetic affiliate organization dedicated to
helping LPI grow and become the Linux standard for certification in
Japan.
They are very successful, mostly because they have wonderful people
helping them to go forward. They arranged for the LPI exams to be
translated into Japanese, and help to ensure LPI is well known all
around Japan.
Ninomiya Mizue is the office administrator and ensures everything

Hamano-San;
Our Volunteer for the Month of July also comes from LPI-Japan;
Hamano-San has participated with LPI-Japan for some time, and
should be recognized for the part he has played;

9; LPI in China
Evan Liebovitch (LPI board member) had the opportunity to go to China
to talk about LPI in Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou.
"The Chinese are very interested in LPI" says Evan, "they like the
neutrality and volunteer involvement and we hope to set some kind of
affilitate there. IBM has offered to help with translation."
