Here are some LPI News items from the month of February 2003. 1; LPI-Brazil 2; CeBit in Germany 3; Hewlett Packard's road shows 4; Preparing for the release 2 of Level 1 and resources 5; Any new Linux conferences or shows ? Let us know. 6; Free LPI sites built by LPI supporters. 7; Survey 1. LPI - Brazil We have opened a new mailing list for LPI supporters in Brazil. There is a great interest in Brazil to build a strong affiliate, and if you are interested, please add your name to the mailing list. http://www.lpi.org/i-maillists.html In July we hope to attend the 'LinuxCorp' show in Sao Paulo and look forward to meeting many new LPI supporters. 2. CeBit - Germany http://www.cebit.de LPI will be at the Open Source Solutions Exchange Pavilion at the CeBit show in Hannover, Germany. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know. All you need to do is talk to the attendees and give them a little information on what LPI is doing. We will be offering LPI exam 101 and 201 during the show. Please let us know if you are interested in taking one of the exams, and which date you will be attending the exam lab. [EMAIL PROTECTED] We will be offering the exams on; 14, 15, 16, 17, 18th March at 10AM and 2PM at the Convention Centre Room 102. There will be a 20 Euro administration fee. There will also be an Open Source Exchange Conference on ; Monday March 17th - at the CeBit show - 12.30 to 1.30 PM Convention Centre Room 13/14, sponsored by Linux International. The agenda for the conference includes a presentation by Jon 'maddog' Hall, on the current state of Linux and open source - along with presentations by United Linux, LPI and many other tracks. 3. Hewlett Packard's road show Evan Leibovitch is the President of LPI and he recently went on a road show with Hewlett Packard to present LPI and talk about Linux in general. HP is doing a tour to present Linux in various countries, and we were pleased to be included on their agenda; http://hplinuxworld.com/ 4. Release 2 of Level 1 exams If you are preparing for the Level 1 release 2 exams please ensure you study the release 2 objectives thoroughly; http://www.lpi.org/p-index.html The exams are based entirely on the objectives which are posted on the web site and you should prepare for your exams with these objectives in mind. Please note that both the original objectives and release 2 objectives are available for you to review and compare while studying. New books and courseware are being prepared and will be available very shortly. BradfordLearning.com has already prepared their new courseware. Publishers - O'Reilly, will soon have their updated book (LPI in a Nutshell)available that will also include Level 2 material. Other coursware providers are in the process of updating their courseware and we will post details to the website as soon as we have definate dates of publication. 5. New Linux Shows and Conferences LPI is always prepared to participate in new shows and conferences where we can. If you hear of a new conference where we can advocate the use of Linux, please let us know. We are always looking for assistance at the shows we attend. If you can help out - please let me know.
