1; Exam Translations Completed

LPI is proud to announce the Level 1 exams are now published in French, Spanish Portuguese, Chinese and German


LPI is offering the French, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Spanish, and German LPIC-1
exams at a 25% off discount through Prometric until July 31st, 2004.


Please use the code "25beta" when registering at www.prometric.com for these
exams.


In the translated exams, you will be able to access the English versions of the questions.
When you take the exam, please include any feedback that will improve our translations.


These exams are valid for certification.

Our Director of Exam Development, Kara Pritchard, is putting together
an item writing workshop and is also looking for assistance, please read
through her open letter, and if you can help, please let us know.

' Looking for Input' - from Kara Pritchard, Director of Exam Development.
"Greetings everyone,

I am announcing an invitation to participate in a 3 day item-writing workshop
for our current Level 1 Objectives, June 16, 17, and 18, 2004.


Item writers should have a minimum of 4 years Linux experience.
Technical writing and/or exam development experience preferred, but not required.
You should complete your Level 1 exams (if you wish to do so) prior to
participating in this event. Participants will not be eligible to sit for LPI exams until
the next major exam release (or 12months, whichever comes first).


This is a compensated event. You will need to make arrangements to arrive in St Louis, Illinois
no later than June 15, and return no earlier than June 19 to allow for three full work days.


Please contact me directly if you are interested in participating in this program.
Resumes will be reviewed and participants will be selected by May 22, 2004.
Six participants will be selected for the LPI paid positions.
Sponsored or company paid participants are also welcome.

_LPI-Jamaica_ is our newest affiliate, under the leadership of Donavon Campbell.

Mr Dou of _LPI-China_ sent a report on what has happened in April at LPI-China.

"Mr Leibovitch of LPI had a short visit to LPI China -Beijing.
Mr Leibovitch introduced the new developments in LPI certifications and had
meetings with representatives from well-known international and national Linux vendors.


In the visit Evan had a meeting with Mr Wang Song from HP Shanghai in the office
of CESI. As an LPI sponsor - HP China is planning to adapt LPI certification for
Linux OS administrative training.


Mr Leibovitch, with Ms Li Yunqin, manager of LPI China, visited
Red Flag Software Co. Ltd, which is a well-known Linux national vender in Beijing.


Co-operation between LPI and Red Flag is investigated.
Two parties agree to have more communications in the future.

During the MOE-IBM conference in XI’AN Jiaotong University Mr Leibovitch
had an informal meeting with the teachers and students from the Software Engineering Institute.
He provided a detailed instruction of LPIC, and answered questions raised from the attendees."

LPI will attend Cebit-America (Booth 3819) on May 25, 26 and 27th and will offer
an exam lab at 10AM and 2PM each day.
We will be offering exam 101 and 201 at $25,00 per exam. (Room 2DL04)
