LPI Announces New Training Partner Program

(Cologne, Germany and Toronto, Canada: November 16, 2006) The Linux
Professional Institute (LPI), (http://www.lpi.org) the world's premier
Linux certification organization, announced an improved training partner
program for Linux training organizations around the world. The LPI
Approved Training Partner program (LPI-ATP) has 124 participating
training organizations in 22 countries.

"LPI will continue to advocate a neutral approach to the adoption of
Open Source Software, training and services. However, we are seeing an
increased demand from both employers and exam candidates for
recommendations of high quality training materials and programs.
In response to this growing global market, we have improved our training
partner program," said Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI.

Mr. Lacey went on to note that due to LPI's Regional Enablement
Initiative (REI) the demand for LPI Approved Training partners (LPI-ATP)
is growing substantially in such emerging markets as China, Brazil and
India: "For example, India is expected to train and hire close to one
million IT professionals in the next five years--20% of these will be
people who will need to demonstrate solid Linux skills and knowledge.
This is a great opportunity for IT training organizations that partner
with our certification program," said Mr. Lacey.

Recent LPI-ATPs include:
- Impacta (Brazil) http://www.impacta.com.br/
- Senac (Brazil) http://www.sp.senac.br
- 4Linux (Brazil) http://www.lpibrasil.com.br

- Gjun Information Co., Ltd. in Taiwan http://www.pcschool.com.tw/

The announcement of the new LPI-ATP program was made at LinuxWorld
Cologne, Germany where LPI has had a longstanding training partner
program through its affiliate LPI-German. LPI-German has a searchable
database of close to 1500 LPI Approved training courses in Germany,
Austria and Switzerland (a full listing of LPI-ATP training partners can
be found at http://www.lpi.org/latp_search). LPI-German has also
launched a highly successful LPI pilot program for Academic training
partners, LPI-Approved Academic Program (LPI-AAP), which enables public
and non-profit training organizations to access free LPI Approved
Training Materials (LPI-ATM) and courseware.
