Linux Professional Institute Announces New Affiliates in Europe and Africa (Toronto, Canada and Madrid, Spain: April 19, 2007) The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization (http://www.lpi.org), announced new affiliates throughout Europe and Africa including LPI-Spain, LPI-France, LPI-Maghreb, LPI-Malta/Cyprus and a new partner in South Africa.
John Meaney, Area Operation Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) made the announcement while attending the inaugural event for LPI-Spain at the LinuxWorld Open Solutions Summit in Madrid, Spain (April 18-19, 2007). Meaney also noted that LPI-Maghreb (www.lpi-maghreb.net) was also launching its own inaugural event this week at MedIT in Algiers (for more information see http://www.lpi-maghreb.net/article.php3?id_article=67/_). Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI credited Mr. Meaney with growing the network of affiliates throughout Europe and Africa: “John has taken the hard-earned knowledge of such affiliates as LPI-German and LPI-Francophonie and applied their lessons learned to grow new partners throughout the region. This demonstrates the importance of adapting our Regional Enablement Initiative (REI) to the challenges of specific geographies.” Specifically, Mr. Lacey pointed out a meeting of all EMEA affiliates Mr. Meaney hosted in March as a means of introducing new affiliates into the LPI program—the first time such an educational event has been hosted by LPI for affiliates. New affiliates in Europe and Africa include: *LPI-Spain: LPI's activities in Spain are led by Qindel – an IT solution provider located in Madrid, Spain with offices in Lisbon, Portugal (www.qindel.es) *LPI-Maghreb: LPI's activities in North Africa including Tunisia, Algiers and Morocco are led by TraiNux (http://www.trainux.com)--a free software services IT company based in Tunis.
