Linux Professional Institute Appoints Director of Sales and Marketing,
North America

(Portland, OR, USA: September 21, 2009) - The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI),  the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced the appointment of David Acheson as
Director of Sales and Marketing, North America.  David Acheson brings to
LPI a 16 year history of senior sales and marketing experience with
leading technology and software companies in North America.

our renewed efforts within the North American region. David has a solid
background in delivering high quality marketing programs supported by
results-oriented sales teams.  He will bring the necessary focus and
energy to our new initiatives for growth within the North American
market," said Jim Lacey, President and CEO of LPI.  Mr. Lacey noted
that, in particular, Mr. Acheson has previous sales and marketing
experience with such IT certifications as the CNE, SCO ACE, MCP/MCSE and
MOUS and managed the Novell Authorized Educations Centers (NAECs) and
Microsoft's CTECs (Microsoft Certified Technical Education Center).

David Acheson joins LPI after his position as Vice President of
Marketing for VitalSmarts--a privately held professional training and
coaching firm.  Prior to that Acheson was International Sales Director
for Demarc a computer and network security company.  Acheson has also
served as a Vice-President of ICDL (International Computer Driving
License), Director of Education for the Caldera/SCO group and in various
senior management positions with Certiport, Microsoft, Novell and
WordPerfect Corporation.

Acheson has a B.A. in English from Brigham Young University, a J.D. from
Seattle University Law School, and an LL.M. in International Law from
Edinburgh University.  He resides in Provo, Utah where he also serves as
a part-time city councilor.

Since joining LPI Acheson has undertaken a number of initiatives within
North America including the introduction of new voucher programs,
promotion of Linux certification within the K-12 market, event
organization for Ohio LinuxFest and LinuxCon (Portland, Oregon), partner
development for LPI's training partner program and the establishment of
an LPI North American Marketing Task Force.
