LPI Announces New Affiliate in Greece

(Sacramento, CA, USA: November 18, 2010) The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced a new affiliate for their program:
LPI-Greece (http://www.lpi.org.gr). LPI-Greece will be managed by the
Greek Linux User Group - GREEKLUG (http://www.greeklug.gr). GREEKLUG is
a non profit organization founded in 2009 and provides Linux and Free
Software/Open Source Software support, volunteer services and IT
consulting in Greece.

"LPI seeks out and recruits organizations worldwide to become our Master
Affiliates who have significant knowledge of the IT industry and the
regional Linux and Open Source ecosystem where they operate. In this
regard, GREEKLUG is an ideal partner for us as they have one of the
oldest Linux computer labs in Greece and the necessary academic
partnerships and human resources to promote the growth of LPI
Certification," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of the Linux
Professional Institute.

"GNU/Linux and Free Software/Open Source Software adoption has been
growing rapidly in Greece since 1998. With a GNU/Linux community in
almost every major city of the country and many young people involved,
there is a fertile ground for setting the basis for LPIC and tomorrow's
Linux professionals. One of our goals is to make LPIC an officially
recognized certification by the Greek state," said Kostas Boukouvalas,
Master Affiliate Operations Manager for LPI-Greece. Mr. Boukouvalas
also stated that he will soon be announcing an LPI exam lab in Greece
where the LPIC-1 exams will be available for the first time in the Greek
language.

The Linux Professional Institute is globally supported by the IT
industry, enterprise customers, community professionals, government
entities and the educational community. LPI's certification program is
supported by an affiliate network spanning five continents and is
distributed worldwide in multiple languages in more than 7,000 testing
locations. Since 1999, LPI has delivered over 270,000 exams and 90,000
LPIC certifications around the world.
