LPI Expands Training Partner Program in 2012

(Sacramento, USA: December 18, 2012) The Linux Professional Institute
(LPI), the world's premier Linux certification organization
(http://www.lpi.org), announced that in 2012 they grew their training
partner program to include 322 participating organizations (up more than
5% from just over 300 partners in 2011). Most significant was that LPI
added seven new training organizations in North America in 2012. LPI
has training partners in over 50 countries around the world.

"LPI has experienced ongoing expansion of our training partner program
this year. We are particularly pleased with the addition of new
partners in North America. LPI's programs have always had
representation within large IT enterprises in North America, but this
year we added a number of training partners that serve the SMB and
academic markets in the region," said Jim Lacey, president and CEO of
LPI. Mr. Lacey credited the regional growth of training partners in
North America to the increased demand for IT professionals skilled in
Linux and Open Source software.

Georgia Southern University's Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering
and Information Technology recently joined Linux Professional
Institute’s (LPI) training partner program as an LPI Approved Academic
Partner (LPI-AAP: http://www.lpi.org/training-partnerships). The
information technology program at Georgia Southern provides
specializations in information management, networking and data center
management, as well as web and multimedia. The University offers a
Bachelor of Science degree in information technology both on campus and
fully online and a Master of Science degree in Applied Engineering with
an IT concentration. The computer science and information technology
degree programs at Georgia Southern are accredited by the Computing
Accreditation Commission of ABET. For further information, visit:

Dr. Christopher Kadlec, Associate Professor, Department of Information
Technology, Georgia Southern University, noted the value of LPI
certification in preparing his students for their IT careers: "Students
majoring in Information Technology here at Georgia Southern University
specialize in Network and Datacenter Administration, Information
Management, or Web and Multimedia Foundations. All of these areas can
trace their roots to Linux or Unix. Pursuing LPI certification is a
great opportunity for our students to strengthen their academic
knowledge and career-readiness."

Other new LPI training partners from North America in 2012 include the
