Hi Neil, The partition and the size is depend on your package selection and future usage. For example, you can keep 50MB for /boot. But if u keep 64MB, it would be useful for your future kernal compilation or multiple configuration with two different kernal versions. And we do not know what are the applications you are going to use on Linux. Some of your applications may need /opt and others may not !
So, Your partition sizes depends on : 1. Your application requirements 2. Your total hard disk size 3. Wether u want to have multiple OSes or only Linux If u do not have any specific application requirements, You can keep partition like this : /boot - 64MB / - 3 - 4 GB ( You can also keep 1GB for / and all other filesystems in different file systems ). / Home -- ( this depends on your users requirement ).
