OK, now I'm totally confused...
I'm trying to use classes to protect certain forms to be printed on.
This works quite well. It appears that lprng allows me to use long
strings as class names instead of simple letters, which is fantastic.
There is only problem. Once I've specified a string for a class name,
I can't seem to get the server to tell me what class a print job is.
This can be a problem if someone else starts the job, or I make a
typo.
For example:
lpc class vampir bork
date | lpr -Cbobbarker -Pvampir
date | lpr -Cborland -Pvampir
lpq -Pvampir
Printer: vampir@panshin 'nam=Epson 740,own=kent,loc=mobile_office' (classes bork)
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Holding: 2 held jobs in queue
Server: no server active
Status: job 'root@panshin+736' removed at 12:44:37.365
Filter_status: done at 12:44:33.636
Rank Owner/ID Class Job Files Size Time
holdclass root@panshin+221 B 221 (stdin) 29 12:46:03
holdclass root@panshin+732 B 732 (stdin) 29 12:21:03
Some more goofing around...
lpc class vampir bark # Nothing prints
lpc class vampir B # Nothing prints
lpc class vampir b # Nothing prints
lpc class vampir bobbarker # First job prints
lpc class vampir borland # Next job prints
So, how do I persuade lpq to give me a more complete description of the
class a job is classified under?
Thanks,
Kent
