Yes, the dreaded LPRng-3.7.1 is available:

If you want to contribute to my ulcers, headaches, etc., as well
as assist in the next major debacle... Then please try it.

I have been repeatedly asked 'Where is the promised IPP support?"

I have gotten half way through the IPP support code, and have run
out of time. Contractual agreements to produce miracles of
coding/software specifications/beating the slaves looks like they
will delay the IPP support until first week in November, when I
will surface and return to the land of the living.

I hope^H^H^H^H WILL announce the release version at the LISA 2000
conference in December. Beta is probably 4 Nov or so. I just
do not have time...

I have added a 'gdbm' database to hold the spool queue information.
You will notice that when your spool directory contains more than
10,000 files that there is a considerable speedup :-) And with
1,000,000 files.... Ummm... I ran out of memory when I did 1,000,000,
files, and need to work on ScanQueue() code just a bit :-) I will
probably add another table that contains the status information.
But if you raise your process limits to 300 Meg/process and have
a 2 Gig swap paratition, it will work. Silly of me to forget
about process memory size :-) Back to the drawing pad...

The bad news is that if you kill off the LPD server while it has
the GDB file open it is corrupted BIG TIME. I have been playing
with the SleepyCat Berkeley DB and this appears to be more resiliant
to this problem. On the next release I will try SleepyCat, or write
the code so you can choose which one using configure.

Lpc flush now cleans out the cached lpq status AND
the database. The two are, as you might suspect, related.
