I've been fighting with DEC unix osf trying to get accounting and such and
got fed up.

Now I have a new Linux server running RedHat 6.0 and wondered a few things
with LPRng over RH Linux's lpd.

1) Does LPRng provide correct accounting for postscript files as well as
PCL files sent through Samba? (that was the problem with other platforms,
it counted PS fine, but always thought PCL was only 1 page).
Anyones experience show lpd on RH Linux 6.0 accounting work or not work for
PS & PCL?

2) I can back it out, but when trying to install RPM's for LPRng, it warned
"file <several files> from install of LPRng-3.6.26-1 conflicts with file
from package lpr-0.50-4", so I backed up the conflicting files, and forced
the install to overwrite. Sound ok? Or should I backout and do differently?

3) Constantly have problems with people sending PS, PCL, PDF, file.ps.gz,
file.ps.tar, etc to the printer. Does LPRng offer nicer solutions to say,
hey, this is PDF/gziped/etc, lets convert/uncompress for them???

Thanks!
