I think most of the HP printers work well, and also a lot of the brother printers. Basically if the printer uses postscript you have a good chance it will work well.
currently we have a hp 8100 (replaced by 8150 now) which have printed well above 600.000 pages, its 3 years old and beginning to break down. So depending on your printing need ... when speaking of printing id say like the saying of IBM...nobody ever got fired buying IBM ... for printers its HP.
