Hmm, doesn't seem to be my case:

$ ls -la /var/run
total 8
drwxr-xr-x    3 root     other         512 Sep 20 19:11 .
drwxr-xr-x   15 root     sys           512 Sep 23 13:28 ..
-rw-r--r--    1 daemon   daemon          6 Sep 19 21:35 lpd.515
-rw-------    1 daemon   daemon          6 Sep 20 09:58 lpd.printer
srwxrwxrwx    1 root     daemon          0 Sep 19 21:35 lprng

It seems after I killed the lpd from 3.8.15 I started the old version of
server and client, lpd.515 and lprng stay left. ;(
