Hi folks - one of my users receives this error message frequently which
I'm able to clear up by restarting lpd:
----
unruhlaptop:~ # lpq
Printer: lp@unruhlaptop (dest raw@spghp1)
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Status: job 'root@unruhlaptop+205' removed at 12:57:37.824
Printer 'raw@spghp1' - cannot open connection - Resource temporarily unavailable
unruhlaptop:~ # /etc/init.d/lpd restart
Shutting down lpd done
Starting lpd done
unruhlaptop:~ # lpq
Printer: lp@unruhlaptop (dest raw@spghp1)
Queue: no printable jobs in queue
Status: job 'root@unruhlaptop+205' removed at 12:57:37.824
JetDirect lpd: no jobs queued on this port
unruhlaptop:~ #
----
Nothing wrong with the printer and other users with the same /etc/printcap
are able to print to the printer just fine. I can ping the printer
"spghp1" as well from this user's host ("unruhlaptop").
Any ideas why this would happen on a regular basis after the machine is up
for 24 hours or so?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
