I am having the same issue. Have you resolved this with 3.8.15? I had a working 3.8.10 and when I upgraded some modules from redhat, it quit working with the JWRERR. I installed 3.8.15 and had the same problem.
If I copy a raw file directly to /dev/lp0, it works.
