Yes, I have the PPD file for this printer (Lanier LP020c). Commands in the PPD file will tell the printer "I want transparencies for this job". And, if transparencies are loaded in the printer, it will print as expected (with the lower fuser temperature and all). Otherwise it will ask you to load transparencies. You can >NOT< tell it "you have transparencies in tray 1". The firmware on the printer says "thou shall not load transparencies in this paper tray no matter what--thou shall use the manual feed tray for such media". Xerox figured out how to load transparencies through the top paper tray--not the manual-feed tray--with their 6250 (and presumably other printers).
