If your situation is what I think it is, the printer is buffering the
print job and returns "end of job" immediately. To verify that this is
the case, print a large job and see if you get a nonzero page count.
("Large" is anything greater than 7 pages for my printer. It depends
on the amount of RAM your printer has.)

To fix it, read ifhp's documentation for the 'pagecount_poll_end'
variable.
