Ben LaHaise is working on an implementation of AIO that differs from Posix AIO, but has (or can have) a Posix AIO compatibility layer. This is good, as Posix AIO doesn't cover some important things, and a few programs that need advanced AIO will benefit. I still haven't tried it myself. The patches (for 2.4.18-pre3 and glibc, I think) at http://kanga.kvack.org/~blah/aio/ Detailed design notes at http://lse.sourceforge.net/io/aionotes.txt It and the older SGI KAIO mentioned at http://www.kegel.com/c10k.html#aio It's not complete, and bugs are still being found in corner cases, but it's already usable for apps that really, really need it. - Dan -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with subject of "unsubscribe".
