I apologize in advance if this has been discussed previously, but it sure would be nice to have a standard SNMP Agent included with an LSB-compliant distribution.
Having a standard extensible agent daemon would ensure that a hardware or software vendor's SNMP subagents would be compatible with all Linux distributions and other subagents. I would prefer something like the UCD-SNMP agent for now (http://ucd-snmp.ucdavis.edu/), with an eye toward specifying AgentX-compliancy in the future (http://www.scguild.com/agentx/). If there's any interest, I'll be glad to write this up for review and possible inclusion in the LSB spec. Thanks, John John Cagle [EMAIL PROTECTED] Compaq Linux Team http://www.compaq.com/linux/
