Even when he is tired and crabby, Andrew seems to have the best grip on the issue :-) What he calls "feature interaction" is is what I call "aspect composition" and is indeed the crux of the problem. Of course, you won't see the problem (or you will be able to manually avoid it) when your system is small and simple. But I thought we were trying to build things that scale and help to manage complexity? If I make a change, I don't want to have to manually worry about how it might interact with all the other changes that other people might be making.
