Stanford’s Social X-Change is a new accelerator with the mission to tackle
social problems using human creativity, rigorous evidence, and innovative
technology. The accelerator’s goal is to spur cutting-edge social science
research designed in partnership with governments, non-profits,
philanthropies, or the private sector that yields new solutions to
challenging social and public policy problems. As we kick off our 2-year
pilot, we are recruiting for an Innovations Lead.

The Innovations Lead will serve as an internal consultant within the Social
X-Change, focused on an emerging pipeline of projects with high potential
to connect social science research and public impact. The Innovations Lead
will provide direct support to impact labs at a variety of stages of
development: exploratory projects that are incubated through the Impact Lab
Design Fellowship, start-up labs that have two-year funding to demonstrate
a proof of concept, and term-funded labs that receive five years of
financial and staff support.

*As we launch the pilot phase of the Social X-Change, within the first
year, the Innovations Lead will work closely with the Social X-Change
Operations Lead and Partnership Lead to:*

   - Co-lead a cohort of eight Stanford faculty in an Impact Lab Design
Fellowship, designing and facilitating key curricular modules throughout
the year with the Social X-Change Partnership Lead.
   - Create individually tailored plans for all impact lab leaders in the
fellowship program to help them think through how they can bring research
and innovation to their external partners.
   - Manage a portfolio of faculty/practitioner partnerships, helping
faculty and partners design mutually beneficial partnerships and sustained
processes and systems that will lead to impactful outcomes.
   - Partner with Stanford faculty and external collaborators in designing,
   launching and scaling impact labs.
   - Envision and lead design sprints (day-long, week-long, quarterly) with
   researchers and their external partners.
   - Provide support to a cohort of start-up impact labs, helping to create
the processes and best practices for implementing solutions-oriented
   partnerships at scale.
   - Serve as a member of the core leadership team, designing and
implementing strategy for the Social X-Change that provides values to both
   university and external stakeholders.

We are seeking a motivated individual who is creative, flexible, resilient
and persistent. The ideal candidate is excited to build something new in a
complicated environment, undeterred by attempting things that haven’t been
done before, and ready to roll up their sleeves to build a start-up in an
academic setting. Additionally, we are looking for great listeners,
facilitators and visual thinkers.

**Candidates should be prepared to share two concrete case studies of
driving innovation in the social sector.**

Interested candidates should apply directly to the website. If you have any
questions, please feel free to email me (with your cv) to
[email protected]. Please share with anyone you feel may be a good fit!

Best,

Leah
