Hello Liberators-- My organization, Ranking Digital Rights, is publishing its first advocacy report, today, into the mouth of a hurricane.
We have this idea that Congress should regulate tech company business models--and not content. We think that it's possible to preserve free speech while addressing platform content problems. We oppose tinkering with Section 230 of the CDA. The need to regulate business models was brought home to me personally when I read this week that YouTube is allowing people to monetize COVID-19 videos--videos that will likely be optimized for clicks and not accuracy. Please check out our report on Twitter: https://twitter.com/rankingrights/status/1239892043503108099 Any signal boost you can give it is deeply appreciated. The full report is here: It's Not Just the Content, It's the Business Model: Democracy's Online Speech Challenge: https://www.newamerica.org/oti/reports/its-not-just-content-its-business-model/ Thanks, Kate Krauss Ranking Digital Rights @rankingrights
