Hi folks, Freedom of the Press Foundation is hiring again! We're looking for a person ideally based in North America to work with us full-time as a Newsroom Support Engineer. The job is to help news orgs who want to set up SecureDrop, to assist with troubleshooting, and to improve docs/code during times of low support activity.
SecureDrop is an open source whistleblower submission platform used by ~70 news orgs now. It has been independently audited several times. Most of the day-to-day software development work happens in Python. This gig is open to folks from unconventional backgrounds who are looking to start in a full-time engineering role -- e.g., if you're already passionate about digital security & have contributed to open source, but don't have years of experience on your resume. Comp for US folks is in the $80-$100K range plus benefits (including a 401k match & health/dental/vision). More info here: https://grnh.se/a63866735us Feel free to also email me directly if you have any questions about the role or the org! Warmly, Erik -- VP of Engineering Freedom of the Press Foundation -- Liberationtech is public & archives are searchable from any major commercial search engine.
