Well, it was a discussion about trade-offs. And it's true, their way of governing cuts a lot of steps that takes time, so it is without a doubt more efficient. Then there's another discussion whether it's worth it, losing all accountability of a proper democracy. But as they also discussed, there are painful limits of democracy too. For it to work, the people (demo) must be educated enough to be able to evaluate decisions. And it for sure seems like most places in the world have really big problems in that area.
So when people are idiots, we're left with an Idiocracy. Which coincidentally is a very nice film (from 2006), that kind of captures my frustration quite nicely.
So yeah, even I doubt whether democracy can work at times, and then I live in one of the top one countries when it comes to freedom and democracy [1].
