This functionnality is interesting, and from my point of vue, the environment
variable can be a good way to achieve it.
I have created a version 1.4 of PPM which includes this feature.
It will be available in the source repository soon, but you'll have to wait for
a new OpenLDAP version before the debian / rh packaging is done.

NOTE : Lucy W : if you use check_password plugin, I suggest you give a try to
ppm which is a more complete tool.

Feature #866: [pwdChecker] Custom configuration file without building

Hi,

I'm running OpenLDAP as non-root user. The user needs full control over the
pwdChecker's configuration file and therefore cannot use the default path at
@/etc/openldap/check_passwd.conf@. But there's no way changing the default path
other than through building the library. It would be much more convenient if a
way could be offered to set the path without the need to build the library.
Please help, thanks.
