I have LTSP 2.09pre3 working with Mandrake 8.1. Here's what I needed
to do:

1. Install the tftp and dhcp daemons ... neither one installed for me
on 8.1, even browsing the individual packages. I had to install them
directly from the .rpm's. Make sure tftpd is running.

2. Change the /etc/dhcpd.conf file, updating it to dhcpd ver. 3
(which comes with Mandrake 8.1). Make sure dhcpd is running.

3. Add "8.1" to the mandrake.sh script, so it won't think it's an
older version of mandrake.

4. Install LTSP as suggested.

Let me know if you'd like a copy of the dhcpd.conf and the mandrake.sh
changes I made.
