When you get up to 5-10 workstations on a 10 mbps hub, the amount of 
broadcast traffic really bogs down performance - at least that is what I 
have experienced. 30 on a 10 mbps hub might make your users pull their 
hair out.

If money is tight and you have mostly hubs, you could use a combination 
of switch and hubs. Plug the server directly into the switch, uplink the 
hubs to the switch, and try to limit the number of workstations plugged 
into each hub. The key here being get at least one switch.
