Dear ltsp Friends:

Using the default "auto", I now have two ATI-video-card ltsp terminals
up and running. This is great! But now I am trying to add additional
terminals with different (S3 or Cirrus Logic) video cards. The only
problem is that the terminals automatically load using the "default"
settings in lts.conf. Changing the settings for an individual terminal
has no effect. For example, when I comment out all of the lines in
[ws003], it still loads, but with the default poor screen display (fuzzy
lines). When I use XSERVER = XF86_S3 and X_MODE_0 = 800x600, nothing
changes (I have downloaded and installed the ltsp rpm for S3 cards). It
still loads 640x480 with a fuzzy screen. Even if I purposely make
incorrect entries (such as mouse settings), there is no change.

In the new 3.0 documentation, it says that the lts.config file should be
in /opt/ltsp/i386/etc. But in chapter 8 it also says the lts.conf file
should be in /tftpboot/lts/ltsroot/etc. Should I be using one rather
than the other? Both?

Should I somehow be re-initializing my lst.conf file when I make
modifications?

Is there a standard test to see if a terminal is reading the [ws003] entry?

I have the terminals listed in the etc/hosts file on the ltsp server.
However, the DHCP server is on a different machine. Do I need to list
the individual terminals there also?

Even if I could get it to fail consistently that might help. But my S3
machines always successfully load the poor quality default driver.

Any help is very much appreciated.........

Robert Maynord
