Michael, that how-to doc for MBA is outdated. It was written for ltsp v2.x. Compiling a new kernel from scratch is not necessary. For ltsp v3.0, simply run imggen against the ltsp v3.0 kernel then overwrite the original kernel with the imggened one. Example:
