    SSH *might* do; you can install RSA keys for a couple of pseudo-users, then let it 
do what it needs.  But if you're on 486's, you probably want a better way.

    There are several good perl scripts that show how to do socket operations- if you 
keep it simple, it can be very lightweight, and you can also limit what the thing will 
do, just to keep things secure.

    Whatever you settle on, let me know- I've considered exactly the same thing!
