                            I finally got the beast.

My flashing screen was specific to an application on the SCO server.
I found that this application was using Termcaps instead of the Terminfo
database. So in the Linux termcap on the SCO server there was an
entry for vb=; I removed it.

I now stay with a ringing bell wich is not even better. I'm still
interested to understand how to set the sounding bell by a script in a
command file if possible for my LTSP workstations instead of putting
a masking tape over the whistle.

Michel

P.S.

Still not found any $HOME/.inputrc but found $HOME/.bashrc is it
for the same use???

I tried in there ' set bell-style audible ' but it didn't have any effect
