Remember this is Linux: you can just put your drives into some new hardware and you're done- you don't have to do a total reinstall like under Windows. About the only thing that might distract from that, is wether you keep using a built-in network card and/or serial ports, etc. But before you get worried about running out of network resources, have an independant network specialist put his troubleshooting gear on the net. 100-base-T is apparently a single bad connection, sloppy join or whatever, and you're back to 10-base-t. We nearly tripled our bandwidth when adding a Cisco router/switch/hub.
