Sounds like XDMCP is not configured correctly on the server you are 
connecting to via the -query from X on the client.  You need to make 
sure that XDMCP is enabled in the graphical login manager you have 
chosen to use on the server and that the server is in graphical mode 
(i.e., runlevel 5 on most distros).
