Well, typically the terminals (when in X) are accessed by ctrl+alt+F1..6
and the different X desktops are accessed through Alt+F1..6.  However,
since Gnome and KDE have both started using the Alt modifier key to
perform operations it's a little confusing.  You can change your key
mappings but I don't use KDE enough to know how.
