You're lucky; usually when you copy like that, you lock everyone out...bad scene. It's a lot worse on SCO, by the way....and then there's NO way out. (Pretty much describes all aspects of their menu-based sysadmin shell...) The above is THE reason for the GRUB/Lilo password....and the server should always be in a secure location...you wouldn't want the janitor pulling out the plug n the middle of the day when he's running the sweeper! No one needs the embarrasment of explaining why all the computers stopped working when someone watered the spider-plant hanging over the server. Take these seriously; it's embarrasing when someone breaks through doing something stupid- don't let your boss see you doing something moronic... And I keep hearing about people putting firewall code on their LTSP servers- another no-no. How many chances does a hacker NEED to get into a firewall, anyway? 20 people who think "god", "love" or "password" is safe enough password, and it gives the hacker a chance to get into a shell and research the situation....and try out his guesses at the root password. It's no longer one computer: it's now ALL of them. Just don't do that, ok? :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Brian Fahrländer Linux Zealot, Conservative, and Technomad Evansville, IN My Voyage: http://www.CounterMoon.com ICQ 5119262 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've been complaining for years, and almost no one listened.
