Yeah, just bandwidth-eating. These kinds of things all work. > I don't know if other distributions include it by default. I'd expect > that Mandrake would. In Debian, it's probably just an apt-get away. Yeah, in Redhat it's just an apt-get away, too; see apt.freshrpms.net. > I would be shocked to find that games that require very fast graphics > (i.e., quake III, etc.) would be playable via a standard LTSP > installation. Yep, but not for the reason you'd suppose; to get the video 'piped' to the clients, you'll need GLX, and it's not really ready for primetime yet. And even if it were, all this networking and using slower and less endowed machines (16M/ram) woulnd't be very playable, I'm sure. Nah, if you're wanting to play Quake/Ut, you really need to make a Quakestation, not LSTP. But I'm interested in the xpilot stuff; I've not seen it run yet. Surely it's not as 'cool' as FlightGear, but it could still be fun. BTW: if you want a game that *doesn't* use OpenGL, but is still premium, consider these: Railroad Tychoon II (Loki) Civilization II (Loki) SimCity 3k (Loki) HyperSpace Deliveryboy (Someone else....should be out soon) I'm sure there are others... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Brian Fahrländer GNU/Linux Zealot, Conservative, and Technomad Evansville, IN My Voyage: http://www.CounterMoon.com ICQ 5119262 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK----- Version: 3.12 GCM d- s:+ a C++ UL+++ P+ L+++ E--- W++ N+ o- K+ w--- O- M- V PS- PE+ Y PGP++ t+ 5 X R- tv++ b- DI++ D+ G++ e h r y++++ ------END GEEK CODE BLOCK------ ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by: To learn the basics of securing your web site with SSL, click here to get a FREE TRIAL of a Thawte Server Certificate: http://www.gothawte.com/rd524.html _____________________________________________________________________ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
