George, I'm wondering which version of tftp-server you installed.
My RH8 box has a /etc/xinetd.d/tftp file that looks like this: service tftp { disable = yes socket_type = dgram protocol = udp wait = yes user = root server = /usr/sbin/in.tftpd server_args = -s /tftpboot per_source = 11 cps = 100 2 } One of the big differences I see is the 'user = root' statement, which I think is required for the tftp daemon to chroot itself into the /tftpboot directory. I'm guessing that it still isn't working because tftpd is failing to start. Check the /var/log/messages file for any clues.
