VNC should be able to sort the problem of the remote connections, but I'd be
interested to see if anyone has a web LTSP solution - maybe a Java app?

Subject: [Ltsp-discuss] I need some input for an upcomming project WAN thru
VPN

Hi,

Maybe you've seen me mention that we are trying to get a project of the
ground for a client.

I need some input from you guys/girls because I saw a question about WAN
connections that troubled me a bit.

The present situation:

At a central site the client has a few Windows/Citrix servers and to
that server about 16 remote sites with about 4 clients each connect thru
a 64 Kb/s leased line. It works like a charm, a bit slugish but
workable.

The future situation:

Another party of remote sites want the same as above but don't want to
pay to much (it's a non profit NGO), and were more then pleased that we
proposed to look at an Opensource/Linux solution. I'm the local
Opensource advocate so I was pleased as well. :-)

The way we think it should work is that the remote sites have a xDSL
connection to the internet and thru VPN tunneling connect to our LTSP
server(s) with dumb clients. We have a 2Mbit SDSL line at our site.

I know it works for W2K terminal services (no citrix) because I control
a few machines from home that way, and the speed is workable considering
the overhead of W2K.

The question is, did we propose something that can't be realised? Should
we tell the client it's a "no go"?

Anybody with experience in this matter?

If this is zillioned time it is asked just point my nose in the right
direction and I will read on and don't bother you with this question
anymore. :-)

Kind regards,
Michel van Horssen
