Someone pointed out that I can use nsupdate. I tried it and it looks like it will do exactly what we want to do.

AFAIK the ISC Dhcpd (standard on most linux distros) knows how to do. No details, but a pointer to the right direction? Another thing: If you make a subdomain for those Dynamic DHCP, i.e. mapping ws051.ltsp.my_nice_domain.net to 192.168.0.51, then read about the $GENERATE statement. The Googloracle will probably help you, it should be no problems in the newer BIND9 (nameserver on linux). That would require no change to the dhcp or clients, you only needed to delegate a subdomain to your linux dns-server (if that is a way you could go). $GENERATE also helps for reverse delegation... Look in the list archives, I remember having written to someone about that stuff some weeks ago (or was it on the etherboot list?). Best regards, and ask for more help if you need...
