Hello John, I suppose you use kdm for login. You have to find your kdmrc. Mine is in /etc/opt/kd3/share/config/kdm.

There is something like

# Greeter config for all displays
[X-*-Greeter]
SessionTypes=kde,windowmaker,mwm,twm,icewm,failsafe

Simply change it to
SessionTypes=icewm
