Peter,
I would install version 3 now, for the following reasons:

1. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
2. LTSP 3 isn't hard to install (20 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how
comfortable you are with Linux).
3. LTSP 3 works well with Red Hat 8 (I have several systems like this).
4. As I understand it, LTSP version 4 is intended to clean up the code a
bit and to make it easier to add functions to LTSP itself.
5. Upgrading from 3 to 4 is not expected to be difficult.
